THE DIFFERENCE

Certified. Notarised. Apostilled. Not the same thing.

Most people are told to get a "certified" translation and have no way to know if that's actually what the authority wants. We explain the difference in plain language — what each one is, who asks for it, what it costs and how long it takes — before you order.

FAQ

Common questions

What's the difference between certified, notarised and apostilled?

Certified means a signed statement of accurate translation. Notarised adds a notary's confirmation of the translator's signature. Apostilled adds a further certificate for use in another Hague Convention country. Read the full explainer for the complete picture.

Are your prices final, or can they change?

The price shown for a standard order is what you pay. It changes only with surcharges you actively choose (express, weekend delivery) or select conditions (Group B language, poor-quality source) — always shown before you check out.

How long does a translation take?

It depends on the service — most document translation is 2–3 working days standard; see the turnaround chip on each service page or the full rate card on Pricing.

How do you handle confidential documents?

Files are seen only by the translator and independent reviewer assigned to your order, and are kept no longer than needed to deliver and support it.
